With just over a month until the lights go on under the Singapore night sky, Urban Fairways is incredibly excited to announce that we will be hosting a Formula 1 themed week in the lead up to the race. We will also be taking private bookings for the race weekend itself. A special F1 cocktail menu will be offered as well as various activities not only including golf, but cocktail nights, champagne nights and themed music.
Whilst golf and Formula 1 may seem like a unique combination, many of the sports’ greats and current drivers enjoy having a swing in their spare time. Golf’s popularity within the sport has seen the creation of the first fan approach known as the “Grid to Green”, a charity golfing competition hosted between F1 & GOLF Magazine prior to the United States Grand Prix in October. McLaren’s very own Carlos Sainz is representing the drivers, and is supported by three team principals (Christian Horner - Red Bull, Zak Brown - McLaren, Otmar Szafnauer - Racing Point). 1996 world champion and Sky F1 pundit Damon Hill will also be joined by Ross Brawn (F1 Sporting Director) in the competition.
In terms of golfing talent, 1992 world champion Nigel Mansell is one who exceeds above all. Mansell helped develop a golf course in Devon (Woodbury Park) and once revealed a desire to compete in the British Open Golf Championship and even briefly had a spell in the 1988 Australian Open. Mansell is a three-handicapper who has even been as low as scratch, he has also won the World Senior Champions in Mexico & Lake Tahoe.
The current and five time world champion Lewis Hamilton is another who isn’t a stranger to the greens. Back in 2016, Hamilton visited New Zealand and played atop a glacier using biodegradable golf balls. He was also seen late one night playing on an Urban Fairways simulator back in 2009 atop the Conrad Hotel. He had a “swinging” time until the small hours of the morning.
With all the action at the Marina Bay track occurring late in the afternoon and at night, there will be plenty of time to visit Urban Fairways, sit back, relax and have a swing on any of our three simulators. Just one MRT stop from Raffles Place.
Stay tuned for further updates on our F1 week and if you have any enquiries or would like to make a booking, please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org or call 97862740.
